Adobe Lightroom for mobile

There are lots of photo editing apps in the app store but nothing beats Adobe Lightroom. Adobe just knows their shit and knows what their audiences want and need. Like me. (Huge fan.)

Over the summer and especially when I am out and about without my DSLR, I like to use my phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8. It’s not the best in the market but it does what I need it to do. The best thing about the camera on my phone is the ability to use pro mode. It makes me feel a little closer to my D750.

Pro mode is good but sometimes I like to add a bit of ‘Amy flare’ to my photos. Which is why Adobe Lightroom is the right app for the job. Let me tell you why.

  1. Easy to edit with a few tools. You can change the brightness, contrast, blacks and whites within one section. And once you’ve done that, you’re done.
  2. Presets. If you love a preset, make sure you sync Lightroom to your CC (Creative Cloud). It’s a lazy person’s dream come true. Download the presets onto your desktop version of Lightroom CC and when you open the app on your phone, the presets are there. Tadaaa.
  3. Making your own presets is really fun. I’ve been experimenting with different presets and with the ease of synching desktop to mobile, or mobile to desktop, I can use my own presets where ever I am.
  4. You can really make colours pop. And I mean really pop. Hazy or cloudy day? No problem. You can create mood with clouds, deep blues in the sea, and make any gloomy day bright and beautiful. (The dream right?)

When you have time to kill, it’s nice to play with the different features, colour grades, noise reduction, contrast and so on. You’ll start enjoying mobile photography all over again as I have. It’s like the time when you get a new phone and discover the new features the manufacturer has added. Feels a bit like Christmas.

One last thing I will add is that I have found it’s best to have a CC subscription to enjoy Adobe Lightroom’s full potential. For £9.89 a month you can get Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop and 20gb of cloud storage. It’s well worth the monthly payment if you’re passionate about photography like me because I can sync my photos from my desktop and mobile. They do have other deals that include other programs and discounts if your a student so check it out and see if there’s a plan that suits your needs.

I know I haven’t even scratched the surface of what this app can enable but I thought I would share some photos that I’ve snapped on my phone and edited in Lightroom to compare the two together.

Disclosure: This post is not sponsored by Adobe. I am simply writing about it because it’s an app I thoroughly enjoy using.

Thanks for reading, and see you next time.
